History

The Gold Rush was created around 2000 at Milk & Honey in New York, the influential Lower East Side bar founded by Sasha Petraske. Regular (and childhood friend) T.J. Siegal asked for his usual Bourbon Sour made with the honey syrup the bar was testing instead of simple syrup. The result—richer, silkier, and more rounded—was named on the spot. A deceptively simple modern classic of bourbon, lemon, and honey, it quickly became a staple of craft whiskey menus worldwide and helped define the early-2000s cocktail renaissance.
