Moscow Mule cocktail in a copper mug — Ginger beer

Moscow Mule Cocktail Recipe

vodka, lime juice, ginger beer

History

The Moscow Mule was created in the early 1940s at the Cock ’n’ Bull on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. It was a deliberate collaboration to move two slow-selling products: Smirnoff vodka (pushed by John Martin of Heublein) and Jack Morgan’s Cock ’n’ Bull ginger beer. Bartender Wes Price is often credited with mixing the first ones. Served in a copper mug that keeps the drink icy cold, the simple combination of vodka, lime, and spicy ginger beer helped introduce Americans to vodka and became one of the most iconic highballs of the postwar era.
