Fun Fact
Originating in 16th-century Cuba as a medicinal drink (possibly inspired by Sir Francis Drake), the Mojito became a global sensation in the 20th century, famously loved by Ernest Hemingway during his time in Havana.
Ingredients
- white rum 2 oz
- lime juice 1 oz (freshly squeezed)
- simple syrup 0.75 oz
- soda water top
- mint leaves 8-10 fresh leaves
Instructions
In a highball glass, gently muddle the mint leaves with the lime juice and simple syrup to release the oils (avoid shredding the mint). Add the rum, fill the glass with crushed ice, and stir gently to combine. Top with soda water and stir once more. Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wheel.
